TECHNICAL WRITER
Location: Mt VIEW, CA
Temporary Contract
Pay: DOE
SUMMARY
Ability to transform technical (governmental) material into procedures. Develops, writes, and edits material for research papers, research reports, research proposals and related technical publications by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Receives assignment from supervisor.
Meet with Scientific personnel and read journals, reports, and other material to become familiar with tasks.
Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to normal academic standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
May review materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, and content.
Maintains records and files of work and revisions.
Skilled at organizing and translating information into clear written documentation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to write, edit, and/or revise a range of technical communications.
Skill in collecting, analyzing, verifying, and manipulating research data.
Ability to communicate with and understand the requirements of professional staff in area of computer science.
Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in information sciences.
Skill in developing design and layout of materials to be published.
Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
Ability to interact with staff in a team environment.
Proposal and grant writing skills.
Required Skills:
Accomplished writer with Bachelors degree in Business, Communications, Education, English, Journalism, Technical Communication, Computer Science or related field. 3-5 years of progressively responsible writing experience in an Information Technology setting creating new and modifying existing research papers, reports, proposals, and other technical publications. White papers experience is a plus.
